3.4. Check of level of working liquids

Irrespective of terms of performing procedures of service of the car according to the Schedule THAT, regularly examine the car on existence of signs of external leak of the working liquids indicating presence of the breakages demanding immediate correction.

Liquids are the integral component of lubrication systems, coolings, braking, hydrostrengthenings of a wheel and washing of glasses. In view of a gradual consumption and pollution of liquids in the course of normal operation of the car, they should be replaced periodically. Use for adjustment of levels only the Current leaving and service of liquid meeting the requirements of Specifications of the Head.

When checking level of any liquid the car has to hold strictly horizontal position.

Motive oil

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check of level of motive oil is made by means of the measuring probe, - location of the probe in a motive compartment is shown on an illustration the Motive compartment (on the example of the car equipped with the petrol engine). The probe is passed throughout the metal directing tube and passes down, reaching an engine case pallet bottom.
  1. It is necessary to perform measurement of level of motive oil before start of the engine or not less than in 2 min. after its stop.

If to start measurement of level of motive oil right after switching off of the engine, a part of oil will remain in the top part of the unit and results of measurement cannot be considered reliable.

  1. Start the engine, warm up it up to the normal working temperature, then muffle and wait several minutes, having allowed oil to flow down in the case pallet.
  2. Take the probe from the directing tube and dry wipe its edge pure неворсящейся with rags / a paper towel. Against the stop enter the probe back and again take it from the directing tube. Length of the site of the end of an edge moistened with oil will correspond to oil level in the engine. At the same time the region of the moistened site has to be between tags of F and L on the probe.
  3. If the level of motive oil is near the lower mark (L), or fell below it, make the corresponding adjustment, having added a little oil through the jellied mouth equipped with a cover located from above on a cover of a head of cylinders, - you remember that overflow of the engine oil can be the reason of "pelting" of spark plugs, development of leak of oil, failure of epiploons, and also damages of the catalytic converter.
  4. Having added oil, wait several minutes, having given it to level to be stabilized, then take the probe and repeat the procedure of check of level. In case of need make the corresponding adjustment. If on a cover of a jellied mouth pollution are found, wash out it gasoline. Screw a cover on a mouth and tighten by hand.

Cooling liquid of the engine

Do not allow hit of antifreeze on open parts of the body and the painted surfaces of the car. Immediately wash away casual splashes a plentiful amount of water. Remember that antifreeze is extremely toxic liquid and its hit in an organism even in small amounts is fraught with the most serious consequences, up to a lethal outcome. Never leave antifreeze stored in leaky closed container, immediately collect the cooling liquid spilled on a floor. Remember that the sweetish smell of antifreeze can draw to itself attention of children and animals. About ways utilization of the fulfilled cooling liquid consult with local authorities, - in many regions of the world special points on different reception of working off are equipped. Do not merge old cooling liquid in the sewerage and on the earth at all!

Do not uncover a jellied mouth of a broad tank / radiator before full cooling of the engine!

The cars considered in the present manual are equipped with the cooling system of compensation type working with an excessive pressure. The plastic broad tank both on petrol, and is located on diesel models in the left forward corner of a motive compartment (see an illustration the Motive compartment (on the example of the car equipped with the petrol engine)) and is connected by an overflow hose to a cooling system radiator. In process of an engine warming up in the course of its functioning the extending cooling liquid is forced out in a tank cavity. When cooling the engine liquid automatically comes back on an overflow hose to the working highway of the cooling system.

Check of level of cooling liquid in a broad tank has to be made regularly, at least, once a year (it is desirable before the onset of cold weather), and also before each long trip. Liquid level in the tank fluctuates depending on temperature of the engine and at the cold unit has to be above a tag of "L" on an edge of the probe attached to a cover.
Otsenochno the level of liquid can be checked visually through translucent walls of a tank. In process of heating of the engine the level of liquid has to approach MAX tag, or rise a little above, - if this requirement is not fulfilled, let's the engine cool down, then uncover the tank and make the corresponding adjustment.

For gas station of the cooling system surely apply mix from water, antifreeze and means to protection against corrosion according to requirements of Specifications of the Head the Current leaving and service.

If there is a need of filling of the cooling system for a way, then it is possible to apply clear soft water in the summer, - antifreeze can be added later, at the first opportunity.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. If the level of cooling liquid quickly goes down, visually check the cooling system for existence of signs of development of leaks:
    • Check a condition of hoses and reliability of their fastening on branch pipes, replace the damaged components;
    • Check correctness and density of landing of a cover of a broad tank.
  2. If leaks are not revealed, make check of tightness of a cover of a radiator and all cooling path (see the Head of the Cooling system, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  3. It is also necessary to check a condition of cooling liquid, - it has to be rather pure and transparent. If liquid has brown or rusty color, it it is necessary to merge, wash out a cooling path and to fill system with fresh mix. Even if liquid looks normally, it is worth to remember that the corrosion inhibitors which are its part lose the efficiency over time, the type of what needs to make replacement of cooling liquid from time to time.

Presence at liquid of bubbles, well distinguishable through a jellied mouth of a radiator demonstrates its hit in engine combustion chambers, indirect confirmation of what is existence of an exhaust in the form of dense smoke of white color, - replace sealing laying of a head of cylinders (see the Head Dvigatel).


  1. For discharge of cooling liquid uncover a radiator and open the drain gate in its lower part, - prepare suitable volume drain capacity. After depletion of the cooling system do not forget to wash out it clear flowing water.
  1. The gulf in system I skin mix, let's the engine work a little at uncovered a radiator, then if it is required, two-three times squeeze out the accelerator pedal and correct the level of cooling liquid, having brought it to the required value.
  2. Screw a cover of a radiator on the place and check all connections of a cooling path for existence of signs of development of leaks, - in case of need tighten the corresponding fixture. Several days later still check the level of cooling liquid, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment.

Brake fluid

Brake fluid is among aggressive chemical compounds and is capable to lead to damage painted the body surfaces of the car. At hit of brake fluid in eyes and on mucous membranes of an organism affected areas should be washed out immediately plentiful amount of waters! In view of high hygroscopicity, use of the brake fluid stored in an open container is inadmissible, - the liquid which gathered moisture is not capable to provide due efficiency of functioning of the brake system! Remember that mixing of brake fluids of various grade is also categorically inadmissible!

The tank of brake fluid manufactured of translucent plastic is fixed on the assembly of the main brake cylinder (MBC) which is located in the left back corner of a motive compartment on its back partition (see an illustration the Motive compartment (on the example of the car equipped with the petrol engine)), and divided into two parts, each of which is connected to a separate hydraulic contour.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Translucent walls of the tank allow to control outside visually the level of brake fluid which at the closed cover has to be between the tags of MIN and MAX applied on one of walls. You watch that the level of brake fluid did not fall below the mark MIN.
  1. Before uncovering the tank for the purpose of performance of adjustment of level of brake fluid, carefully wipe it and the adjacent surface of the tank with pure rags for the purpose of prevention of hit to the hydraulic highway of pollution. Uncover and add necessary amount of cooling liquid of the required grade in the tank.

At identification of signs of presence in the highway of system of dirt or moisture, brake fluid should be replaced, - do not forget to pump over upon termination of the procedure a hydraulic path (see the Head the Brake system).

  1. Having finished adjustment, screw on the place and manually tighten a tank cover, having tracked density of its landing.
  2. Some lowering of level of brake fluid in the tank will be observed on the course of wear of frictional overlays of brake shoes, - when replacing the last level has to be restored automatically. Continuous lowering falling of level of brake fluid demonstrates development of external leaks in a path, - survey brake lines, hoses and nipple connections of a hydraulic path, estimate GTTs condition, examine brake supports and wheel cylinders, make sure of lack of traces of leaks on inside of wheel assemblies.
  3. If excessive lowering of brake fluid took place, the hydraulic path of system after adjustment of level has to be pumped over for the purpose of removal of the air which got to it (see the Head the Brake system).

Liquid of the power steering (GUR)

Emergence of need for a dolivaniye of GUR liquid indicates development of leaks in system, - for check address on HUNDRED!

The GUR tank is located in the left forward corner of a motive compartment, directly behind a broad tank of the cooling system (see an illustration the Motive compartment (on the example of the car equipped with the petrol engine)).

The tank is equipped with a carving cover with the built-in measuring probe, - the level of liquid has to be between marks N and L in the probe.

Alternatively the tank can be not equipped with the probe, - in this case the-level scale is applied directly on its translucent walls. Lowering of liquid is lower than a mark L inadmissibly. In case of need make the corresponding adjustment, having added the required amount of liquid of the grade stipulated in Specifications in the tank.

In order to avoid foaming, do not shake up a container with liquid before application, try to fill in liquid slowly, minimizing probability of formation of bubbles. Apply only fresh liquid, the grade car approved by producers (see Specifications of the Head the Current leaving and service).


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Having finished adjustment, start the engine and several times turn a steering wheel from an emphasis against the stop, releasing air traffic jams from a hydraulic path.

Liquid of washing of glasses

Liquid for washing of a windshield is filled in in the plastic tank equipped with a folding cover installed in the right forward corner of a motive compartment (see an illustration the Motive compartment (on the example of the car equipped with the petrol engine)).

The tank of liquid of a washer of back glass is located under the panel of an internal upholstery of the right back rack, - open a door of a back and remove the small cap located at the level of the lower cut of side glass. In a mouth of a tank the removable corrugated extender which use in an essential measure facilitates process of a flood of liquid is filled.

In areas with a temperate climate as the washing liquid usual clear water with additive of a small amount of means for washing of glasses can be used. In cold weather tanks should be filled no more than on two thirds, leaving a volume stock on expansion of mix at its freezing. In areas with a frigid climate in winter season it is necessary to use special spirit solution, steady against freezing, for washing of glasses, - which can always be got in shops of automobile accessories.

Also special concentrate which should be mixed in a due ratio with water is issued, - act according to instructions of manufacturers of means.

RKPP gearbox oil

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. The probe for measurement of level of oil a design of a box is not provided.
  2. Tire out the car on a platform, or hang out horizontally on the elevator.
  1. Clear of dirt RKPP case surface around a control opening and turn out from the last a stopper.
  1. Level of oil has to reach the lower cut of a control opening, - for check use a piece of a wire from the end bent at right angle, or enter a little finger into an opening.
  2. In case of need through the same opening add gearbox oil of the recommended type in a box, - you make adjustment step by step, filling in oil in the small portions, every time checking level, previously having allowed oil to flow down in a case.
  3. Having achieved the required result, wipe a stopper, put on it a new sealing washer, then screw in an opening and tighten 30 Nanometers with effort.
  4. Lower the car on the earth and make sure of lack of signs of leak of gearbox oil, having paid special attention to positions of a stopper of a control/jellied opening and joint of a case of RKPP with the engine, - the case should be wiped carefully, then to sprinkle the specified sites with talc or lime and, having made on the car a short trip (about 30 km) with use of all range of switchings of a box, to make repeated visual survey. In case of identification of leaks the cause of their development has to be immediately removed.
  5. If need for adjustment of level of gearbox oil arises regularly, it demonstrates existence of malfunction which needs to be found and eliminated immediately.

Liquid of automatic transmission (ATF)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. During a short 30-minute trip warm up ATF up to the normal working temperature, then park the car on the flat horizontal platform.
  2. At the working engine consistently carry out the AT selector lever through all working provisions, having in conclusion returned it to situation "P".
  3. Cock the parking brake and let's the engine a couple of minutes work on single turns.
  1. Wipe the handle of the measuring probe and the end of the directing tube for the purpose of elimination of risk of hit in dirt transmission.

  1. Take the probe, wipe its edge pure неворсящейся with rags and again accurately fill against the stop in the directing tube. Again take the probe and check the ATF level on the marking applied on its edge, - the end of the moistened site of an edge has to be between two risks noting borders "is hotter" (75 °C) than a scale.

If the level of heated-up ATF does not reach the lower bound of a "hot" scale, the car should not be allowed to operation!

  1. In case of need modify the ATF level, adding liquid of the required grade (see Specifications of the Head the Current leaving and service) by means of a funnel through the directing tube of the measuring probe, - fill in ATF in the small portions, allowing it to flow down completely in a transmission case. Having finished adjustment, repeat check of the ATF level.

Excess of the admissible ATF level can lead to a transmission exit out of operation, - excess of liquid should be pumped out from AT case!

Lubricant of the transfer case

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Tire out the car on a platform, or hang out horizontally on the elevator.
  2. On models with the transfer case equipped with one control opening release two bolted couples and remove a side support of a suspension bracket of a box.
  1. Clear of dirt a surface of a case of the transfer case around a control opening and turn out from the last a stopper.
  1. Level of oil has to reach the lower cut of a control opening, - for check use a piece of a wire from the end bent at right angle, or enter a little finger into an opening.
  2. In case of need through the same opening add oil of the recommended type in a box.
  3. Having achieved the required result, wipe a stopper, put on it a new sealing washer, then screw in an opening and tighten 30 Nanometers with effort.
  4. On models of the corresponding complete set establish into place a side support of a suspension bracket of the transfer case.

Lubricant of differentials

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Tire out the car on a platform, or hang out it horizontally on the elevator.
  2. Control/jellied openings are located on face surfaces of cases of differentials from the forward party at forward differential and with back at back. Check of level of oil is made by analogy with checks for RKPP and the transfer case. Efforts of tightening of traffic jams make 39 ÷ 54 Nanometers.
