3.27. Check of the air conditioning system

The air conditioning system is under high pressure. Do not try to weaken any connections or to remove system components without its preliminary discharge in the conditions of a specialized workshop. Even after a system discharge service of its components has to be made in goggles!


  1. For the purpose of a guarantee of serviceability of functioning of the air conditioning system try regularly, at least once a year to carry out its complex routine inspection:
    • Check a condition of a belt of the drive of the K/V compressor (see the Section Check of a State and Effort of a Tension of Belts of the Drive of Auxiliary Units). At identification of signs of excessive wear or damages the belt needs to be replaced (see the Head Dvigatel);
    • Check a condition of lines of a refrigerator path, - in case of identification of cracks, swellings and consolidations replace the defective line. Do not forget to examine also nipple connections on existence of signs of development of leaks, - in case of need tighten corresponding will corrode/replace the defective line;
    • Examine the surface of the heat exchanger located ahead of a cooling system radiator. In case of need clean space between its plates by means of compressed air or a soft brush.

When using compressed air do not forget to put on goggles!

    • Make sure of lack of signs of violation of passability of a drainage tube of the evaporator, - at the switched-on conditioner from a tube clear water has to exude. For check of passability of a tube enclose the sheet of paper under the evaporator and turn on the conditioner, - after a while on a leaf water traces have to appear.
  1. Try to activate the conditioner at least once a month regardless of climatic conditions, - long non-use To/in can lead to failure of rubber sealing elements.
  2. Owing to complexity of a design of the K/V system performing procedures of its diagnostics and recovery repair should be charged to specialists of car service.
  3. The lack of coolant is the most probable cause of decrease in overall performance of system, - check system charging level.
  4. Warm up the engine up to the normal working temperature.
  5. Transfer the handle of the choice of temperature condition of the control panel of systems of ventilation/heating/conditioning of salon (see the Section of System of ventilation, heating and air conditioning in the Head Governing bodies and methods of operation) to extreme left situation (the maximum refrigerating capacity). As other handle choose the maximum high-speed mode of functioning of the fan of a heater.
  6. Include To/in and make sure of serviceability of activation of the compressor on rotation of the central section of the coupling of its coupling. Feel inlet and final branch pipes of the compressor, - one of them has to remain cold, the second - considerably to heat up, otherwise it is necessary to check coolant level, and if necessary to drive away the car in a specialized workshop.
