3.21. Check of a power supply system, replacement of the fuel filter

Gasoline is extremely flammable therefore during the work with any components of fuel system it is necessary to take special precautionary measures! You do not smoke, and do not approach the venue of works with naked flame or the carrying unprotected by the lamp shade. Do not perform such works in the garages equipped with the heating devices using natural gas (such as vodogre, dryers, etc.)! The working platform has to be ventilated well. At hit of gasoline on skin immediately wash away it water with soap. When carrying out any works with fuel system put on goggles and you hold near at hand the fire extinguisher. In case of a gasoline spillage immediately wipe a pool, but do not keep the rags impregnated with gasoline in places where the risk of its ignition is not excluded! |
Check of system

- At emergence of a smell of fuel during the movement or after the car stood in the sun, it is necessary to check a condition of all fuel system immediately.
- Uncover the fuel tank and check it for existence of damages and signs of development of corrosion. Estimate a condition of a sealing element of a cover. Replace defective components.
- Survey lines of giving and return of fuel on existence of cracks and deformations. Estimate reliability of delay in nipple connections on the fuel distributive highway and the built-in fuel filter.
- Having hung out the car, examine the fuel tank and its jellied mouth on existence of holes, cracks and other damages. Special attention should be paid to a condition of a joint of a mouth with a tank. Sometimes leak of fuel arises owing to weakening of collars of fastening of a mouth, or because of aging of rubber of which the mouth is made. Attentively study a condition of elements of fastening of the fuel tank, in case of need make the corresponding corrections.

Do not make attempts of independent performance of repair of the fuel tank at all (excepting replacement of its rubber components), - remember that the contact of the fuel evaporations which are contained in a tank with naked flame of a gas torch inevitably leads to ignition! |
- Carefully check reliability of delay in all nipple connections of the fuel hoses and metal lines going from a tank. Make sure of lack of deformations and signs of aging of materials of flexible hoses. Replace defective components.

The fuel filter is switched on in the giving fuel-supply line on the site between the fuel tank and TNVD.
Discharge of a sediment

- Release a drain stopper in the lower part of a working element of the filter and lower all sediment from the filter, - wait for the beginning of an effluence of pure fuel.
- Strongly tighten a stopper and make removal from the air filter.

Replacement of a working element
|

- Disconnect an electrical wiring from the sediment sensor detector.
|
|
- By means of a suitable key turn out a working element of the filter.
|
|
- In case of need remove the sensor detector of a sediment from the filter and check serviceability of its functioning by means of an ohmmeter: conductivity between contact plugs of the socket has to take place only in the lower provision of a float. The sensor can be rearranged on a replaceable working element.

- Moisten with fuel a sealing ring, screw a working element of the filter in a cover and tighten it manually.
- Restore initial connection of an electrical wiring and fuel-supply lines, - track correctness of connection of hoses.
|
- Weaken a ventilating stopper and, 7-8 times (prior to the beginning of a fuel exit) having rocked a plunger up-down, fill the filter with fuel, - in the filter there should not be air traffic jams.
