11.7. Removal, service and installation of the main brake cylinder

Hit of brake fluid on the painted body surfaces is accompanied by risk of damage of a paint and varnish covering, - incidentally got splashes should be deleted immediately with dry rags or pure paper towels!

Removal

At removal act as numbering of components.

GTTs installation details

1 — Sockets of an electrical wiring of the sensor switch of level of brake fluid and the differential sensor switch
2 — Hydraulic lines
3 — the Bolt

4 — the Differential valve regulator
5 — the Nut
6 — the Basic arm
7 — GTTS


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Enclose under GTTs rags for the purpose of prevention of hit of brake fluid on the painted surfaces of body panels. Pump out hydraulic liquid from the GTTs tank.
  1. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the sensor switch of level of brake fluid in the tank of brake fluid and the differential sensor switch of the valve regulator of pressure.
  1. By means of a special cap key with a cutting head disconnect hydraulic lines from GTTs.
  1. Working in a similar manner, disconnect hydraulic lines from the valve regulator GTTs located under assembly, - models with the brake system a basic design.
  1. Turn out a fixing bolt and remove GTTs together with the valve regulator from the vacuum amplifier of brakes, - try not to bend a pusher rod.

Service

Dismantling and assembly

Try not to allow damages of a mirror of the cylinder and the working surfaces of piston assemblies!

Order of dismantling of GTTs

1 — the Socket of an electrical wiring of the sensor switch of level of brake fluid

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn out a fixing bolt and remove the tank of brake fluid from the cylinder case.
  1. In case of need uncover with the tank and take the mesh filter enclosed under it.
  1. Having accurately hooked the stupid screw-driver, take from reception nests in the GTTs case rubber landing plugs of the tank.
  1. The screw-driver wound by an insulating tape wring out the piston in the cylinder and turn out a persistent bolt.
  1. Holding the piston wrung out, by means of suitable nippers remove a lock ring and take assembly of primary piston from the cylinder.

At extraction of the piston the cylinder has to hold horizontal position, - try not to damage a cylinder mirror.


  1. For extraction of assembly of the secondary piston deploy the cylinder vertically and knock with its landing flange about edges pairs of wooden blocks laid on a firm surface.
  1. Attentively study an external condition of the taken components, - in case of identification of signs of excessive wear, traces of development of corrosion, cracks, zadir and other mechanical damages prepare replaceable details. The weakened / damaged piston springs are also subject to replacement.
  2. Estimate a condition of the tank of brake fluid, - in case of need prepare replacement.
  1. Working as it should be, the return to an order of dismantle of components, make assembly of GTTs, - rubber cuffs of pistons before gas station of the last in the cylinder should be greased with pure brake fluid. Track observance of requirements of Specifications of the Head the Brake system to efforts of tightening of carving fixture.

Adjustment of length of a rod of a pusher

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before installation of assembly of GTTs on the car it is necessary to make adjustment of length of a rod of a pusher.
  1. Lay sealing laying on a landing flange of GTTs, from above install adjusting adaptation, having tightened an adjusting bolt against the stop it in a bottom of a reception nest of piston assembly.
  1. By means of the manual vacuum pump create depression of 66.7 kPa in depth in assembly of the brake amplifier (500 mm of mercury.).
  1. Remove adjusting adaptation from GTTs and press it to the face surface of the vacuum amplifier.
  1. Measure gap size between a hat of an adjusting bolt and an end face of a rod of a pusher. If the result of measurement exceeds the limit of the admissible range (0.1 ÷ 0.3 mm), release a lock-nut and make the corresponding adjustment by rotation of a rod.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Installation is made as it should be, the return to an order of dismantle of components, - do not forget to replace sealing laying, track observance of requirements of Specifications of the Head the Brake system to efforts of tightening of carving fixture.

For tightening of nipple nuts use a cap key with a cutting head.

  1. In conclusion make pumping of a hydraulic contour of the brake system (see the Section Pumping of Brakes).
