12.3.4. Removal, service and installation of rack-mount assemblies
Removal
- Hang out the car above the ground.
- Remove forward wheels.
- Release a nut of fastening of a bar of the stabilizer of cross resistance to the corresponding lower lever of a suspension bracket (see the Section Removal, check of a condition of components and installation of the stabilizer of cross stability).
- Release a nut (1) of an axial bolt of fastening of a fork of rack-mount assembly to the lower lever of a suspension bracket.
- Take an axial bolt of a fork.
- Release coupling bolts and remove a fork (1) of the lower support of rack-mount assembly.
- Open a cowl and through an aperture in a mudguard of a wheel arch release three nuts of fastening of rack-mount assembly to the basic block on a frame.
- Take rack-mount assembly from a wheel arch.
Dismantling
Design of rack-mount assembly of a forward suspension bracket
- Clamp a rack in a vice with soft sponges and on several turns release a nut of a piston rod of the shock-absorber, - do not remove a nut finally.
- Clamp the lower basis of rack-mount assembly in a vice with soft sponges and by means of special adaptation squeeze a screw spring.
- Turn off a nut of a piston rod and make dismantling of a rack.
Check
- Clamp the lower part of the shock-absorber in a vice with soft sponges and manually check smoothness and uniformity of a piston stroke of the shock-absorber in both directions.
- Having rocked a piston rod not less than three times, make sure of lack of signs of development of leaks.
- Visually estimate a condition of a screw spring.
- Check the top cup and the lower saddle of a spring for existence of damages, also estimate a condition of the top and lower rubber insulators.
Assembly
- Working as it should be, the return to a dismantle order, install into place components of rack-mount assembly, - track correctness of landing and - where it is required - input in gearing of all elements.
- Squeeze a screw spring and freely screw a nut of a piston rod.
- Clamp rack-mount assembly in a vice with soft sponges and tighten a nut of a piston rod with the required effort (37 ÷ 46 Nanometers).
