2.3.2. Seat belts

General information

Use of one seat belt for fastening more than one person is not allowed!

In total being in the car during the movement people have to be fastened by seat belts what reminds the special buzzer which is activated approximately for 6 seconds at inclusion of ignition of. At the included ignition and not fastened seat belt of a driver's seat on a combination of devices the special control lamp will burn (see the Part the car Equipment, an arrangement of devices and governing bodies).

Belts of front and back side seats have a diagonal and zone (three-anchor) design. The central seat of a back seat is equipped with a belt of a two-anchor (zone) design.

Seat belts of front seats are equipped by automatic emergency natyazhitel. The order of use of such belts is similar to an order of use of belts of a usual design. In more detail the principle of functioning of emergency natyazhitel is considered in the Section System of Additional Safety (SRS).

Two-anchor belt and zone section of a three-anchor belt it is necessary to have at the level of hips that it covered a coxofemoral joint sitting as the strongest element of a skeleton of the person.

The humeral section of a belt should not be passed under the arm or be imposed on a neck of sitting.

Remember that maximum efficiency of action of a seat belt is reached at vertical position of a seatback. The excessive inclination of a back increases probability of the slipping sitting at blow under a belt.

Seat belts of a diagonal and zone design have three anchor points, one of which is equipped with the inertial returnable device with automatic blocking at breakthroughs. Belts of this kind do not need adjustment of length. The two-anchor belt at breakthroughs is not blocked and is recommended by the KIA company as means for fastening of a special children's seat (see the Section Transportation of Children).

If the back average seat is occupied, the children's seat on a front passenger seat is allowed to fix.

At installation of a special children's seat it is necessary to transfer a seat belt to a condition of compulsory blocking by a full pulling it from the returnable device. Holding a belt in the extended state, record them a children's seat, working according to instructions of the manufacturer of the last. After a buckle zashchelkivaniye surplus of length of a belt will be winded on a drum of the returnable device and will be blocked, having provided reliable fixing of a children's seat.   1. Slowly extend a belt from the returnable device, throw it through a shoulder and latch a belt buckle bracket in the lock, then pull for a strap of humeral section up, checking reliability of fixing of a bracket in the lock. Make sure that the strap of a belt is not overwound, - the overwound belt in itself is dangerous.
  1. As much as possible lower zone section of a belt, having placed it as low as possible on hips. Having pulled for humeral section, choose a weak point of a strap and try to achieve a dense prileganiye it to a body, - in case of need tighten a belt as appropriate. The strap has to pass through a thorax sitting on diagonal so that loading at blow fell generally on the strongest upper torso.
  1. The driver of the vehicle, having fastened by the seat belt, has to check that all passengers were also properly fastened.
  2. To unfasten a belt, press the red button with the inscription PRESS which is located on the buckle lock case. At taking-up of a belt it is necessary to hold with a drum of the returnable device it for a lock bracket. At an exit from the car track that the belt did not get to a doorway and was not clamped at a zakhlopyvaniye of the last.

Additional recommendations

Do not attach any slips and other objects to straps of seat belts. Installation of extras or change of provision of fastening of humeral section can reduce efficiency of action of a belt and increase probability of traumatizing at accident.

Have no firm or sharp objects between the body and a forward safety cushion.

Transportation of firm or sharp objects on a lap, and also driving with a tube for smoking or other sharp objects in a mouth at accident can lead to receiving heavy to injuries.

For the purpose of prevention of risk of unauthorized operation of frontal safety cushions try not to press hands to the locations of their modules on the dashboard and a nave of a steering wheel.

Recommendations for pregnant women

Safety of the pregnant woman is the best way of preservation of a fruit in case of road accident therefore in the movements the pregnant woman (both as the driver, and as the passenger) has to be fastened without fail by a seat belt, paying at the same time special attention to correctness of placement of its sections concerning the body.

When using belts of a diagonal and zone design it is necessary to remember that the zone section of a belt has to settle down as low as possible on hips and not to be imposed on a stomach at all.

The pregnant woman also has to hold vertical position on a seat. At the same time the front seat has to be most far removed from the dashboard that will allow in case of road accident or operation of a forward safety cushion to reduce risk of getting injured and mutilations not only for the woman, but also for a fruit.
