10.5.2. The procedures of check and service of elements of the drive of wheels which are not demanding dismantle of components

Replacement of an epiploon of a shaft of the leading gear wheel of the main transfer

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Hang out the car above the ground.
  2. Merge from a differential case oil (see the Head the Current leaving and service).
  3. Disconnect from assembly of the forward bridge the driveshaft (see the Part Driveshafts).
  1. Before releasing a nut of fastening of a connecting flange, measure starting effort of a provorachivaniye of differential and size of a side play of gearing of the leader and the main transfer conducted gear wheels, - write down results of measurements.
  1. By means of special adaptation holding a flange from a provorachivaniye, release a fixing nut.
  1. By means of a stripper dismantle a flange, then, having hooked the screw-driver, take an old epiploon.
  1. Grease a new epiploon used for filling of differential with oil and by means of a suitable mandrel press it in a reception nest of a case of differential.
  1. Establish into place a flange and tighten a nut of its fastening with the effort providing the required starting effort of a provorachivaniye of differential.
  2. Connect the driveshaft (see the Part Driveshafts), then make filling of differential with oil (see the Head the Current leaving and service).

Power shafts

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Visually estimate a condition of boots of hinges of both power shafts. Squeezing boots, make sure of lack of cracks, cuts and signs of aging of material. Estimate reliability of fixing of boots fixing collars (bandage tapes).
  2. Examine shaft on existence of signs of obvious deformations.
  1. Having pulled each shaft in the vertical and horizontal directions, make sure of lack of signs of weakening of their landing.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure of serviceability of operation of the alarm indicator of inclusion of the all-wheel drive mode (see the Head Governing bodies and methods of operation).
  2. Estimate the general condition of tubes and hoses of a vacuum path, make sure of reliability of their fixing on unions of sockets.

  1. Disconnect a vacuum hose from the union on a rotary fist and by means of the manual vacuum pump create depression about 550 mm of mercury in depth on the union. If depression is kept by assembly within less than 1 minute, replace the coupling of a free wheeling, previously having made sure that the landing layer of sealant on its interfaced surface is not destroyed.

Wheel bearings

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lift and tie up a support of the brake mechanism (see the Head the Brake system), remove the coupling of a free wheeling (see the Section Removal, service and installation of components of assemblies of forward and back bridges) and by means of the measuring instrument of plunger type (DTI) measure the size of a side beating of a brake disk on the circle remote from the center of a nave on 12 mm.
  1. In case of need adjust a pretightness, or dismantle a nave and replace bearings (see the Section Removal, service and installation of components of assemblies of forward and back bridges).
